What are the Elite and Impact Performance Groups all about?
These fast-paced groups focus on the student’s ability to learn and retain choreography quickly. These dancers perform around the community as well as at several major league ball games throughout the season. This year, we are adding a Master Class / Dance Convention opportunity.
Do these groups compete and does my child have to audition?
No competitions and No auditions.
What are the requirements to join?
Ballet, Tap and Jazz Technique classes are required. It is recommended that new members have at least one year of dance background to be able to keep up with and retain multiple pieces of choreography throughout the year.
What rehearsals are required?
Each group has a 1-hour weekly rehearsal that is already on the CDA schedule. Enrollment can be found under “Events” in your CDA Parent Portal here.
Do I need to buy special shoes for the Performance Group?
Appropriate shoes are required for all Ballet, Jazz & Tap technique classes and rehearsals as stated in the CDA Dress Code. Lyrical shoes “Half-Soles” are required for the Holiday Show.
Is my dancer required to participate in every event?
Because we are not a competition group, participation in each event is optional. Performance Group members are however, expected to participate in the CDA “Holiday” & “End Of Year” Shows and will have a special number in both. Costumes are rented for both shows. Parades, Talent Shows, Master Classes and other community events are optional.

Do we purchase or rent costumes for Performance groups?
Both purchase and rent. Members are required to purchase their Elite/Impact Uniform at the beginning of the season ($53) which is to be worn during each rehearsal. Performance costumes are rented.
How important is class and rehearsal attendance?
Class and rehearsal attendance is considered mandatory. Excessive absences may result in a dancer being pulled from performance/performances.
Are there any other fees?
Optional registration cost for optional DanceFest Convention.
